Used the battery from my sons scooter and jump leads to feed current through the wires, section of frame at a time, with the able assistance of Marc who has assumed the position of Apprentice's apprentice - Apprentice²?
Anyway, very satisfying to touch the jump leads to the wire on the side of the frame, and watch the wax melt and swallow up the wire - taking care not to leave the contact established for too long as otherwise the beeswax sheet would cut rather than weld.
Then melted a block of beeswax in a pan, and ran a thread of molten wax around the edges of the beeswax sheets, "glueing" them to the wooden frames at the sides ad top edge.
Put all the frames back in the hive -so now ready for the bees next spring !
Did have to give the hob a good scrub down, as it was well sprinkled with drops of beeswax !
