This morning had a quick check on the hive. There should be enough honey in the main box to see the bees through till next spring. Some of the frames are full of honey, some contain a mix of honey, brood and pollen, but altogethor I think there is approx 5 frames worth of honey, which should be enough, according to the advice given in the magazine "Abeilles et Fleurs".
Even so, I gave them about a litre of syrup today, sploshed into the feeder tray and garnished with a few twigs so any over keen bees should be able to climb out of the stickyness, just to give them a boost for autumn !
